第2讲

　　挣脱汉语的束缚(Let your Chinese be no hindrance)，关键在于把握汉语的意思。

　　“童子鸡”、“人妖”的启示

　　1.海内存知己，天涯若比邻。(Long distance separates no bosom friends.)

　　2.做事情要有轻重缓急，重要的、紧急的事情先做，次要的、不急的事情后做。

　　3.我只认一个道理：天道酬勤。(God reward those who work hard.)

　　4.要彻底解决13亿人口的吃饭穿衣问题，我们任重而道远。(so much to do)

　　5.要在短时间内学好英语，不发扬一点“头悬梁，锥刺骨”的精神是绝对办不到的。

　　6.你在昂立托雅发展中的贡献是不可磨灭的。(No one could ever deny the contribution you have made to the expansion of Only Toya.)

　　7.我们大眼瞪小眼，谁也不知道该怎么办了。(Looking at each other…)

　　8.谁敢保证在这件事情上我们不会重蹈覆辙。(repeat our previous mistakes)

　　9.我将洗心革面，重新做人。(I promise you I will be a completely new man.//I’ll stand in front of you a thorough new man.)

　　10.谁不是爹生父母养的？遇到这样的事情，谁都会难过的。(It is simply natural that we feel…//…and no one is any exception.)

　　11.我这叫作大器早成啊!(Mine is a case of being someone at an early age!)

　　12.人之患，患在好为人师。(The problem with human nature is that everyone thinks he knows more than others.)

　　13.不经风雨，怎能成大器呢？(How can one be someone without experiencing some setbacks?//really go somewhere)

　　14.扪心自问，你对得起你的这份收入吗？(Just ask yourself if you really deserve the pay you receive.)

　　15.饮水思源，我们应该好好地去报效国家。(We should never forget what the country has done for us, thus trying our best to serve its best interest.//to serve our country heart and soul//whole-heartedly)

　　16.我建议你只管走自己的路，让别人说去吧！(…you do as you want to and never mind what others will say.)

　　17.读书的时候要思考，不能囫囵吞枣。(You’ll have to get your mind to think while you are reading anything and should not just read without understanding what you are reading.)

　　18.路漫漫其修远兮，吾将上下而求索。(However hard it may be, I’ll never stop pursuing my goal till I find it.)

　　19. 知我者谓我无忧，不知我者谓我何求。(Those who know my mind would say I’m free of worries while those who don’t know my mind would wonder what I’m seeking.)

　　20.这次我可学乖了。俗话说：吃一堑，长一智嘛。(I know what I should do this time. As the saying goes: one learns from his past mistakes.)

　　21.雅思考高分，准备要充分。没听说嘛，工夫不负有心人。(To score high on IELTS…Haven’t you heard of the saying: if you keep trying, you’ll finally succeed.)

　　22.你问我怎么才能学好英语，那我要说：先买本好词典，这就叫作“公欲善其事，必先利其器”。(…you hope to do a good job, then be fully prepared for it.)
